Hello, old foe: Potholes rear their head in St. John's after thaw
It's an unusual and unwanted sight in February, but potholes are here early across Newfoundland, after temperatures reached the double digits in some areas of the island this week.
On the Outer Ring Road, one of the busiest highways in Newfoundland and Labrador, potholes have left flat tires and angry drivers.
One of the latest vehicle-damaged potholes is in the eastbound lane of the Outer Ring Road, just a few metres past the ramp to Logy Bay Road.
In the opposite direction, a cluster of potholes have been taped off in the westbound lane on the approach the ramp to Aberdeen Avenue.
The Department of Transportation and Works is sending a crew this weekend, weather permitting, to fix the potholes.
The repair job is slated for Saturday because traffic volumes will be lower in comparison to weekday traffic.
