Collision Clinic has gifted a fully rebuilt car to a family in need for the last 21 years. Marsha Murley was this year’s recipient, a mother of three who juggled two jobs without a vehicle. The CBC’s Jessica Singer spoke with family.

Marsha Murley works two jobs to support her three children, and she does it all without a car — but, not anymore.

Collision Clinic gave her a Christmas gift that will help her family go the extra mile: a fully rebuilt Nissan SUV.

It's the 21st vehicle Collision Clinic has gifted to a family who needs it most, as part of the company's Enriching Lives program. The new vehicle comes with spare tires, a year of car insurance and Christmas gifts for Murley's kids.

"This amazing program has made a profound impact on countless lives, including my own," said Murley, whileholding back tears.

Darren Martin is part of Collision Clinic's selection committee. He says choosing the recipiant is a difficult task. Compared to last year, he says, the number of people nominated for the program went up by 300 per cent, with over 50 nominees.

Murley says the car will help her take her kids to and from school and extracurricular activities, as well as to visit loved ones. She says the vehicle could also help her pick up more shifts to support her children.

Martin says hearing about how much the car will impact someone's life makes the challenging task of choosing just one family worth it.

"We say, as judges, it's part of our Christmas gift to ourselves, that we get to experience the pleasure that these families get every year," he said. "It's just an incredible feeling to see that this family's lives really are changed because of this vehicle."
