Jack Axes Inc. is officially open for business on Water Street in downtown St. John's.
"Why wouldn't you open up a business where you throw axes?" owner Adrian Beaton told CBC News.

"There was nothing like this out here so I said, 'Why not?'"
Beaton first got exposed to the unique — but growing — sport while on a trip to Ontario.
'Really had to change a lot of people's minds'
He said he and his business partner just had to convince city hall to let them open the axe-throwing enterprise.
"It would have been rewarding just to open my business," Beaton said.
"We worked really, really, really hard and really had to change a lot of people's minds and expose them to this new idea that was massive on the mainland, and clear across the country, but was new to St. John's."

Beaton said the cost will be $19.99 for walk-ins, $29.95 for private parties and $99.95 to join a competitive axe-throwing league that runs for seven weeks.
Jack Axes Inc. also has plans to open a bar that will soon sell Quidi Vidi products.
According to Beaton, the first league is scheduled to start in October.
