Another pedestrian struck on busy St. John's street

For the second time in just over a week, a pedestrian has been struck on Westerland Road in St. John's, a short but busy road in St. John's that runs by Memorial University's campus and the Aquarena sports complex.

A man in his 20s was hit by a car near the Aquarena.

As with the case last week, it was dark and raining with poor visibility.

A protest last December, triggered by a series of collisions at intersections along the road, called for better lighting and other safety measures on Westerland Road.

The City of St. John's has been in talks with Memorial about conducting a pedestrian and traffic study of the area.
