Three men charged in death of Woodstock man
Three men have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man in Woodstock on Friday.
Richard Alan King, 33, Jason Andrew King, 28,and MacKenzie Larry Sharpe, 21, all of Hainesville, made brief court appearances in Woodstock Sunday night. All three are in custody and will be back in court Monday morning.
A fourth man, Jason Paul Crawford, has also been charged with obstruction of justice in connection with the death.
Woodstock Police Chief Colin Pawsey say the three men charged with second-degree murder were arrested on Sunday. The men surrendered to police without incident.
"Two of them we made telephone contact with [and] they came out to the road [with] their hands in the air, and the third individual appeared to have been sleeping and he gave himself up."
Crawford lived in the apartment building where Shawn Joseph Tomah was found dead early Friday morning. Tomah, 37, was found dead below an open, second-storey window in downtown Woodstock.
Forensic experts from Halifax are on the scene gathering evidence that might explain what happened to the man, who was a member of the Woodstock First Nation.
Woodstock resident Ronald Price says violent crime is rare in the small community northwest of Fredericton, and he's still not sure what to think about what happened.
"I guess a lot of people are quite shocked about it, that's for sure. Woodstock's not that big but still a lot of things happen here, and it's a terrible thing to see things like that happen in Woodstock."
