Thousands of people are without power across Quebec as strong winds took down trees and power lines Tuesday afternoon.

In Montreal, parts of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and Saint-Henri were hit hard. Trees were also downed in Lachine.

Vehicles were damaged by falling trees and some streets are completely blocked off.

Environment Canada says it's unlikely that Montreal was hit by a tornado. But the agency confirmed there were very strong linear winds going about 110 km/hour.

Montreal police say no injuries have yet been reported.

Hydro-Québec has 200 crews on the ground working to restore power.
