Winning lotto ticket to be split by 10 poker dealers
Group that works at Montreal casino say winning is sweeter when it's with friends
A group of people who make their living running games of chance have hit the jackpot themselves.
Ten poker dealers at the Casino de Montréal are splitting a Maxmillions ticket from Loto-Québec worth one million dollars.
The group had purchased 30 tickets on Friday evening. Many of them have known each other for over a decade.
Carina Kingsbury, one of the winners, said splitting the prize with her friends and colleagues is even better than winning it alone.
''You're sharing with other people that you work with," she said. "And it's kind of like sharing a bottle of wine alone or sharing it with a bunch of friends. Even if you have less, you're with good people and I think it makes it even more special."
She said she'll use her share to pay off the debt on her car first, then take a trip with her two daughters.
Martin Lefebvre, another winner, said he learned about the group's win around 3 a.m., when his friend Jean-Paul de Sylva called him and left a breathless voice message.
According to Lefebvre, Sylva said: "Call me back! Anytime of the night! Even if it's at seven in the morning, call me back, please. And by the way, I love you Marty."
