The 13-year-old girl found earlier this week in the snow in Châteauguay, Que., has died, the city's police service confirmed Friday.
Officers were called late Tuesday afternoon to help the unresponsive girl, who was found in front of a home.
Châteauguay Mayor Éric Allard later wrote on Facebook that the deadly event was likely caused by a collapsed snow tunnel. Police have not confirmed the circumstances of the death.
First responders attempted to resuscitate the girl before she was rushed to hospital. Allard said she was taken to Sainte-Justine Hospital.
"A post from the city is reminding people of the dangers of this type of tunnel or hiding spot," Allard said in his Tuesday post.
