Stéfanie Trudeau, the Montreal police officer better known by her badge number 728, will be going to court May 6 for assault charges.
Trudeau’s charges stem from the way she handled the arrests of some residents in an apartment building on the Plateau–Mont-Royal in October 2012.

The altercation was caught on video and broadcast by CBC’s French-language service Radio-Canada.
The Montreal Police Department suspended Trudeau while it conducted an internal investigation into her conduct, and Police Chief Marc Parent apologized to Montrealers.
That wasn’t the only time the officer’s conduct was called into question.
A few months prior to the incident, in May 2012, Trudeau was recorded pepper-spraying protesters during a student demonstration.
The video of the officer wearing Badge 728, as she became known, generated hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube.
Trudeau has had at least three other misconduct complaints against her since 1996.
