A 22-year-old man was killed and the 29-year-old pilot was seriously injured after the small plane they were flying crashed in Quebec's Chaudière-Appalaches region just after 6 p.m. Sunday.
The two-seater plane crashed just off Highway 20, near the Saint-Jean-Port-Joli airport, shortly after take-off, said provincial police.
The passenger died in hospital. The pilot is expected to survive.
The plane was a Pitts Special, typically used for aerobatics.
Provincial police set up a perimeter around the site, and Monday, police and federal Transportation Safety Board investigators were still on the scene.
Airport officials have declined to comment on the incident.
