The City of Montreal has inaugurated a new, redesigned bike path at the corner of Décarie and de Maisonneuve Boulevards in the NDG borough.

It's a compromise for cyclists, who have long said the area around Vendôme Metro is unsafe. The revamped bike lane will exist until the reopening of the St-Jacques overpass, at which time the borough will reassess the traffic situation.

The new configuration allows cyclists headed in the downtown direction to avoid the southbound crossing at the busy intersection of Décarie and de Maisonneuve Boulevards.
