Montreal's Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge closed for weekend, reopening with 4 lanes
Dynamic traffic management will be suspended

Starting Monday, four of six lanes will be open on Montreal's Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge as maintenance and reconstruction work continues.
Two lanes will remain open in each direction at all times, but to make this possible, the bridge must be closed over the weekend — starting at midnight Friday and reopening Monday at 5 a.m.
Dynamic traffic management will be suspended once four lanes open. This configuration will remain in place until crews complete shoring and reinforcement work. According to a statement by Transports Québec, adverse weather may cause delays.
The reopening of a fifth lane is the next objective, though no timeline has been provided.
Once the fourth lane opens, heavy vehicles are prohibited from using the right-hand lane in each direction. Overweight vehicles remain banned at all times.
The bridge plays a vital role in the regional transportation network, carrying nearly 87,000 vehicles each day, Quebec's Transport Ministry says.
The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge, originally built in 1965, is being replaced due to age and heavy usage.
A new bridge is set to gradually open in late 2026. It is designed to maintain traffic flow between Montreal's West Island and Vaudreuil-Soulanges, promote public and active transportation, improve the look of the infrastructure and protect the surrounding environment.
The new structure will include three lanes in each direction, a multi-use path and wide shoulders reserved for buses.
