Just in time for what is supposed to a beautiful long weekend, the federal bridge authority unveiled the revamped bike path on the Champlain ice bridge Friday.

The ice bridge was built between 1964 and 1965 to control ice jams and ice flow.

It runs parallel to the Champlain Bridge, about 300 metres upstream.

The bridge has been closed to pedestrians and cyclists since July to allow construction workers to reinforce the deck.

The bike path connects the existing St. Lawrence Seaway bike trail to Nuns' Island.
