Deluxe cars and truckloads of diapers, pork, lobsters and sparkling fruit juice were just a few of the items that Quebec provincial police say a criminal network they broke up Wednesday was responsible for stealing.

Police arrested 16 people between the ages of 20 and 56 in a series of six raids Wednesday morning that targeted locations in both Quebec and New Brunswick.

The Quebec raids occurred in Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, Saint-Liboire, Saint-Zotique and Saint-Paul-de-l'ile-aux-noix. The New Brunswick raid took place in Memramcook.

The thefts occurred in both provinces as well as in Ontario, the Sûreté du Québec said.

More than 100 officers from the SQ, RCMP, Ontario Provincial Police and nine regional and city police forces in Quebec took part in the operation, dubbed "Obliger."

Operation Obliger began in June 2016 and involved 78 cases of theft representing more than $5.3 million in stolen goods.

"It was a large variety of goods that were stolen," said SQ spokesperson Mélanie Dumaresq.

The idea was to make money off selling the products, she said.

Today's raids recovered goods valued at almost $3.2 million.

The men arrested could face charges of theft and conspiracy, the SQ said.

They are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
