Man, 68, charged with 2nd-degree murder after violent altercation in Longueuil, Que.
Police called to residential building on Saint-Gérald Street Wednesday evening
A 68-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder after a violent altercation left a man in his 50s dead in Longueuil, Que., on Montreal's South Shore.
Guy Durocher has been charged in the death of Patrick Synnott. He has also been accused of committing mischief concerning property valued at less than $5,000, namely tires.
According to Longueuil police, the event occurred around 8 p.m. Wednesday evening in a building located on Saint-Gérald Street, in the LeMoyne sector.
Some details remain unclear, but police say the victim was assaulted with a weapon.
The man in his 50s was transported to hospital in critical condition. He later died. Police say the suspect was overpowered and arrested shortly after they arrived.
Police set up a security perimeter in order to conduct an investigation.
