Montreal police announced the arrests of three people in connection with a double homicide that took place earlier this summer, and one of the suspects is a 15-year-old boy who is expected to be charged with first-degree murder in youth court.

In addition to the underage teenager, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said they arrested two men — ages 21 and 18.

On July 19, at around 1:50 a.m., two men were shot to death near the corner of Robert Boulevard and 25th Avenue in the city's Saint-Michel neighbourhood.

The victims were 33 and 34 years old. They died after being transported to hospital. Their deaths marked the 19th and 20th homicides on Montreal police territory this year.

In a statement, the SPVM said the 21-year-old suspect was arrested at the Bordeaux jail, as he was already in custody for car theft and possessing instruments for break-ins. He is also expected to appear in court by tomorrow to be charged with first-degree murder.

As of Thursday afternoon, the 18-year-old suspect was still being questioned by investigators.
