Dawson students are hoping to collect a total of 10,000 messages of peace from around the world to mark the 10-year anniversary of the school shooting.

Students hope to gather 10,000 messages from around the world

Five years ago, students at Dawson College started a project to collect peace messages from around the world.

This year, as they prepare for the 10th anniversary of the shooting at the college, they're bringing it back.

To mark the anniversary on Sept. 13, students are hoping to collect a total of 10,000 messages of peace from all 193 countries which belong to the United Nations.

Eighteen-year-old Anastasia De Sousa was killed and another 19 people were injured in the shooting after a gunman entered the English-language CEGEP in downtown Montreal and opened fire.

So far, messages on the Peace Wall hail from Canada and the United States, to countries as far away as Russia, the Philippines, Cameroon and India.
