Bixi bike share back for 5 more years
Mayor Denis Coderre says Montrealers answered the call to save Bixi

Montreal’s Bixi bike sharing program has been saved for five more years.
Mayor Denis Coderre announced today that the financially troubled program will return.
“Montrealers can take a fair bit of credit for the success of this rescue operation,” Coderre said. “I said ‘show me your love [for Bixi].’ If Bixi were in better shape, we would have had a lot more people sign up.”
Yesterday, the not-for-profit board that runs Bixi recommended bringing back the popular service in 2015 and unveiled its five-year plan to keep it afloat.
"Last March, we promised Montrealers efficient, transparent asset management and balanced operations," Coderre said at a news conference at city hall. "Bixi Montreal reports show the goods they delivered are up to our expectations."
