Four domestic elk from a small farm west of Montreal are dead after they were shot with arrows.

One of the animals was hit in its rear end and died the following morning. The other three had to be put down.

All four were in a pen when they were hit by arrows with practice points, as opposed to arrowheads designed for hunting.

The attack happened Thursday night at small elk farm in Les Coteaux, about 30 kilometres west on Highway 20 from Montreal.

Owner Robert Richer is offering a $2,000 reward to whoever can identify the person who shot his animals. He raises about 15 of them as a hobby, and said it's the first time anything like this has happened to them.
