Montreal police arrested three people Friday morning in relation to murder cases from 2017 and 2018 they believe are connected to Frédérick Silva.

Silva was arrested in February and was charged with two counts of murder hours later. He had been on Canada's most wanted list and is said to have been the province's most sought-after alleged criminal.

After his arrest, Montreal police's cold cases unit launched Project Mégalo to dig into unsolved murder cases they believed Silva could have played a part in.

A Montreal police spokesperson could not say, Friday morning, what charges the three suspects face. They are expected to appear in court later in the day.

Police allege that Silva is responsible for the death of a 28-year-old man who was shot in the parking lot of Cabaret Les Amazones, a strip club in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, in 2017.

He has also been charged in connection with a murder in Laval that took place on Oct. 11, 2018.

Silva is also believed to have been involved in the attempted murder of an organized crime figure in the Lachenaie neighbourhood of Terrebonne in 2017.

Police say more arrests could follow.
