Montreal police are searching for a suspect after someone tried to rob an armoured car in L'Île-Bizard-Sainte-Geneviève.

A man with a firearm approached two armoured car employees as they were transporting money in the parking lot of the Laurentian Bank on Jacques-Bizard Boulevard.

Montreal police Const. Jean-Pierre Brabant said one of the Garda employees shot at the suspect.

Brabant said the suspect fled the scene, driving westbound on Cherrier Street.

In the end, no money was stolen, but the two agents were treated for shock.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

Officers are using sniffer dogs to search the area and have set up a roadblock on the Jacques-Bizard bridge leading off Île Bizard.
