The schedule for Winnipeg's pride festival looks a little different this year as it's introducing its first ever Frontrunners pride run.

The event is slated for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. starting at Stephen Juba Park, runners will proceed to Whittier Park, and return, totaling five kilometres.

"You can run, you can walk, you can sashay. You can do whatever you want," said Wally Mah, the run's organizer.

Spots in the event sold out last Wednesday.

It was hard to find a day during the summer that Winnipeggers weren't involved in another run, Mah said, we're a city of runners.

Mah was inspired to organize the event after attending the pride and remembrance run in Toronto's pride week last year. He pitched the idea to the people at Pride Winnipeg and with that, the ball was rolling.

The run will be MCed by CBC's Chris Glover and Katie Nicholson.

Mah hopes that the family event will be successful enough for it to become a regular feature of Winnipeg's pride week.
