Person in stable condition after house fire in Winnipeg's West End

A person was taken to hospital Thursday afternoon after a fire in the 900 block of Strathcona Street.

A person was taken to hospital Thursday afternoon after a fire in Winnipeg's West End.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a house fire in the 900 block of Strathcona Street in the Minto neighbourhood at around 5 p.m., the city said in a release Thursday evening. The fire was declared under control about an hour later. 

The release said paramedics transported one person to hospital in stable condition. The city's Emergency Social Service Team went to the scene to help displaced residents, it said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no damage estimates are available.
