A Winnipeg educational assistant has been found guilty of sexual exploitation of a teen student at the high school where she worked.
Sheryl Ann Dyck was 42 when she was arrested and charged in December 2014, after initiating what police called an "inappropriate relationship" with a student, then 17, at Elmwood High School.
Police said at the time the relationship lasted from March to October of that year and progressed over time. Dyck had sex with the student multiple times, police said.
Her lawyer, Gisele Champagne, told CBC News her office plans to appeal the decision as soon as Dyck is sentenced on Oct. 6.
