Winnipeg Blue Bombers put on skills camp for young flag football players on Sunday

In spite of dreary weather on Sunday, nearly 500 local young football players are participating in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Futures Flag Football Skills Camp at Investors Group Field on Sunday.

At the camp, flag football players between the ages of seven and 17 are completing a series of football-specific drills that develop and refine skills related to throwing, agility and flag pulling or tackling. 

Throughout the day, there will be six sessions, each led by Blue Bombers players, coaches and players from the University of Manitoba Bisons. The first session started at 9 a.m. and each one lasts approximately 70 minutes.

According to a press release issued by the Bombers on Sunday, the team's Futures program is committed to supporting and growing amateur football in Winnipeg through skills camps, coaches clinics and high school mentorship programs.
