What's open, closed on Louis Riel Day in Winnipeg

It's Louis Riel Day in Manitoba, which means some people have the day off and are trying to figure out what's open or not.

Here's a brief rundown.

Because it is a provincial holiday, not a federal one, all Government of Canada offices are open and there will be mail delivery.

All civic offices are closed but some services are being provided:

• Recycling and garbage will be collected as normally scheduled for those with Monday as a collection day.

• Brady Road landfill is open from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Winnipeg Transit is operating on a Sunday schedule.

• Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries are open from 8 a.m. until dusk but cemetery offices are closed.

• Pan Am Pool is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex is open 2-6 p.m. however the pool is closed because of a fouling. All other civic swimming pools are closed today.

The following are closed for the day:

• All leisure centres.
• All public libraries.
• The Animal Services Agency.
• Winnipeg Parking Authority.
