Southern Manitoba is flush with weather alerts, including a winter storm warning, a freezing rain warning and a snowfall warning as Tuesday lived up to the billing of a wacky weather day.

An Alberta clipper has moved into the province, spreading snow from the west and then into the Red River Valley.

The heaviest snowfall is expected west of Lake Manitoba to the Saskatchewan border, where 10-15 centimetres could fall by the end of the day.

More snow is expected overnight in Winnipeg and into Wednesday and then even more — another couple of centimetres — Wednesday night.

Temperatures will continue to be below normal through the week, including a shivering high of just –6 C on Friday. Normals for this time of year are a daytime high of 7 C and an overnight low of –4 C.

If you're hoping for some relief, you'll need to wait until the weekend.

  • Cloudy with a chance of flurries in the morning.
  • Snow in the afternoon (3-5 cm).
  • Wind southeast 20-30 km/h in the morning, becoming east 20-30 km/h in the afternoon.
  • TONIGHT flurries in the evening and overnight.
  • Overnight low –3 C.
