Snow, at times heavy, is expected through the day Tuesday in parts of central and eastern Manitoba, and the Interlake.

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings stretching from around Flin Flon and Cranberry Portage and south into Easterville and Grand Rapids before stopping in the northern half of the Interlake region.

In those areas, about 10-15 centimetres is expected to fall before the snow tapers off later Tuesday morning.

The heaviest amounts are part of a warning area along the east side of Lake Winnipeg, from top to bottom, and out to the Ontario border, the warning states.

That includes the area around Poplar River and Berens River, south through Little Grand Rapids, Bissett, the rural municpality of Alexander, Powerview-Pine Falls and as far as Dorothy Lake.

Total amounts of 15-25 cm are expected there throughout the day.

Additional snow is expected Tuesday night and into Wednesday in areas closest to Lake Winnipeg as snow squalls could possibly bringing an additional 10-20 cm.

The snow is forecasted to taper off on Wednesday afternoon as winds become more northerly, the warning states.
