Sally Ann campaign saved by late donation surge

Manitobans stepped up to help save the Salvation Army's Kettle campaign in 2012.
Prior to Christmas, the fundraising campaign was $150,000 short of its $385,000 goal. The shortfall would have meant significant cuts to the Salvation Army's programming.
Once the public heard of the plight, however, the donations started coming in, including a $50,000 from lottery winners Kirby and Marie Fontaine.
In the end, the campaign raised $62.09 more than its goal.
The Sally Ann calls the late surge in donations a Christmas miracle.
