RCMP say they are sending a dive team to the remote community of Gillam, Man., to assist in the search for two suspects wanted in connection to three northern B.C. homicides.

Divers will start searching a section of the Nelson River on Sunday and are expected to arrive in Gillam Saturday night, the police force said in a news release.

The move comes a few days after the RCMP announced they were winding down their search in the area following more than a week of searching there for Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McLeod, 19.

The two men are charged with second-degree murder in the death of University of British Columbia lecturer Leonard Dyck, and are suspects in the killings of tourists Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese.

RCMP said they would not disclose any specifics about where their Underwater Recovery Team would be searching and media would not be provided access to the dive area or personnel.

The press release does not say what the divers are looking for, or what has prompted them to search the river.
