Manitoba Public Insurance is introducing an online tool to book appointments for several services, including licence renewals and vehicle registration.

The system will help reduce wait times by reducing the number of walk-in appointments at service centres, MPI said in a Thursday news release.

The public insurer ran a pilot of the new booking system in November 2024, and said 90 per cent of customers were seen within 10 minutes of their appointment time, up from 62 per cent before.

In addition to licence renewals and registrations, drivers can also now book an appointment online for medical forms or vision tests.

MPI already offered online appointment booking for some other services, such as driver knowledge and road tests.

Walk-in services are still available at all centres, but customers will be seen between booked appointments, the Crown corporation said.
