Manitoba RCMP are reminding drivers about the dangers of drinking and driving after a rollover on Highway 41 killed a Regina man and injured the driver, also from Saskatchewan.

Russell RCMP officers were called to the highway, about five kilometres south of St. Lazare, Man., at around 9:50 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, a vehicle with two men in it was heading north on the highway when it rolled off the road.

The passenger, a 39-year-old man from Regina, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead in hospital.

The 29-year-old male driver, who is from Rocanville, Sask., suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

RCMP say alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the rollover.

"This may be yet another tragic reminder of the fatal consequences of driving while impaired," RCMP spokesman Sgt. Bert Paquet said in a news release Friday.

"The behaviours of some drivers on our roads need to change, to not only protect their lives but also the lives of so many that travel on Manitoba roadways."

The rollover is under investigation.

St. Lazare is about 30 kilometres east of Rocanville.
