The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority made Lori Lamont its interim president and CEO Monday.

Lamont, the WRHA's former interprofessional practice and chief nursing officer, will take over for Arlene Wilgosh. On Nov. 25, 2014, Wilgosh announced she would be retiring this spring.

Doctor Jerry Gray, the chair of the WRHA board of directors, said with 17 years of experience, including six years in senior positions, Lamont was the right person for the job.

"I am confident she will provide the leadership necessary to move the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority forward, and continue the progress we are making in dealing with the challenges facing the region," Gray said in a release.

The WRHA said Lamont will serve as interim president and CEO until a permanent replacement is found.
