Get ready to wait if you were hoping to visit Winnipeg's brand new Canadian Museum for Human Rights this weekend.

The entire museum won't open to the general public Saturday after all, because a number of exhibits aren't ready.

Museum officials said Wednesday people will have to book a spot on specially guided tours until the museum finally opens Nov. 11.

The official opening last Friday was only for the 9,000 people who got free tickets to see four of the museum's 11 galleries. The only other way to see the exhibits was through private tours for officials and special guests.

One of the tours, called "Discover the Building" takes an hour and will run mornings.

The other is a 90 minute tour called "Explore the Galleries" and will run afternoons.

The tours run Tuesday to Sunday and cost $10, $5 for children, and free for kids under 7.

But you can't book a spot till Thursday, Sept. 25.

Visitors will do that either online at the museum's website, by calling Ticketmaster, or in person at the museum's information desk.

The museum said space is limited so book early.

Museum CEO Stuart Murray said in a news release that the museum received such positive feedback from among the 9,000 people who got free tickets last weekend, he's confident visitors taking the tours being offered until the opening will be similarly "awed and inspired."
