The union representing hundreds of striking educational assistants in southeastern Manitoba says it has reached a tentative agreement with Hanover School Division.

The Christian Labour Association of Canada issued a news release on Wednesday, exactly three weeks after about 300 EAs hit the picket line near the school division's head office in Steinbach.

The union says the deal was struck on Monday and a ratification vote is being held on Wednesday.

Should the new collective agreement be ratified, the educational assistants will be back to work on Thursday, CLAC said in its release.

A union spokesperson declined to comment beyond the CLAC release, saying they are waiting until the ratification process is complete.

Hanover board chair Brad Unger posted a statement on the division's website, confirming the tentative settlement, adding "the division looks forward to welcoming back our educational assistants."
