The two-day annual event is organized by Heritage Winnipeg.

Doors Open Winnipeg has been growing in popularity since it first took place in 2004. According to Heritage Winnipeg, 2015 was the most popular year to date drawing 27,000 visits to sites across the city.

The Dalnavert Museum is also providing a special Doors Open event today. It has partnered with the Costume Museum of Canada to showcase a collection of accessories — including hats, gloves and jewellery — dating back to the Victorian Era.

Volunteers from the Manitoba Living History Society will be at Dalnavert dressed in 1910s costumes to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the right to vote for some Manitoba women.

"This is a great way to learn and teach people about history," said Genevieve Woods, a volunteer interpreter with Manitoba Living History.
