A Dog's Purpose, the Dennis Quaid movie filming in Winnipeg, needs extras for scenes that depict Atlanta and Chicago in the 1980s.

In a message posted on its Facebook page, Kari Casting said it needs black people, both male and female, between the ages of 16 and 80, for a couple of shoots in October.

A time commitment of 10 to 12 hours will be needed each day and extras will paid $12 per hour, then an overtime rate of $18 per hour after eight hours. A snack, refreshments and a small meal will be provided.

People are needed to play the role of townsfolk, university students, teachers, café patrons and others.

The movie is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by American humorist W. Bruce Cameron. The story centres around a dog's journey through several reincarnations and how he looks for his purpose through each of his lives.
