We want to hear your story!
CBC in your community | learn more
At CBC Manitoba, our job is to tell stories that reflect our province's many people and places. That includes towns and First Nations, rural areas and cities, neighbourhoods and community groups. Communities in Focus is a community news bureau project that aims to hear Manitobans' stories and share them with the rest of the province.
On top of our regular news coverage that takes us around the province, with Communities in Focus, we take the time to spotlight specific communities. This year's series will take us from Poplar River First Nation in the North to Morden and Winkler in the South, and have us diving deep into getting to know more about Gen Z.
The key to the success of these new bureaus is you! We want and need to talk to members of the communities we are reaching out to. We want to learn, understand and share your stories.
Schedule for 2024-25:
Poplar River First Nation - Sept. 23- 27, 2024
Lac du Bonnet - Oct. 7-11, 2024
Gen Z at Red River College (Winnipeg) - Nov. 18-29, 2024
Gen Z at University of Manitoba - Jan 20- 31, 2025
Coming up in early 2025: a trip to Morden and Winkler, and more! We will link to stories here as they become available.
If you have a story to share, or if you want to make a pitch for a community we should visit next, please get in touch with our Community Connection Senior Producer Nadia Kidwai by email: [email protected] or call 204-296-0846.
CBC Manitoba's Communities in Focus series
This is not CBC Manitoba's first Communities in Focus tour. Over the last year, CBC Manitoba has set up community news bureaus in the Interlake, Steinbach, Virden and Island Lake. From north to south, our province has so many intriguing stories to share.
