New Type Taboo podcast shatters myths about diabetes
Emily Brass opens up about her diabetes diagnosis
November is Diabetes Awareness month and CBC Manitoba is proud to launch a new original podcast, Type Taboo: Diary of a New Diabetic, hosted by Emily Brass on November 15.
Denial, anger, depression and shame - Type 2 diabetes can lay the ultimate guilt trip. That's what journalist and former musician Emily Brass discovered when she was diagnosed as a new diabetic.
Forced to make big changes, Emily opens up about her personal struggles with the disease in a series of intimate diaries, and seeks out other diabetics who help her smash the hurtful stereotypes that come with Type 2.
Whether you're living with diabetes, or have ever tried to make changes to get healthier, Emily's journey will motivate you, and make you think differently about Type 2 and the people who live with it.
