Mom, 27, charged with manslaughter after 2-month-old boy dies of malnutrition: Winnipeg police
Alyssa Michelle Ross arrested in death of King Campbell-Ross

WARNING: This story contains disturbing details.
A Winnipeg woman has been charged with manslaughter after her two-month-old son died of malnutrition in December, police say.
Police responded with emergency personnel on Dec. 4 to a report of an unresponsive infant at a home on Atlantic Avenue, between Arlington and McKenzie streets, a news release said Friday.
A two-month-old boy, King Campbell-Ross, was pronounced dead at the home.
Campbell-Ross died of malnutrition, child abuse investigators say.
A manslaughter charge has been laid against his mother, Alyssa Michelle Ross, 27, who was arrested on Thursday.
The charge was approved in consultation with the Manitoba Prosecution Service, police said.
The office of the Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth says it is currently reviewing the infant's death.
"We do not have all the details surrounding King's death," a spokesperson said in a statement on Friday.
"However, as with any child death review, if there are recommendations we can bring forward to government to address systemic issues which may be a factor, we will absolutely do so."
Ross remains in custody, police said.
