Brandon police arrest 5 after guns, drugs found during home search, traffic stop

Police in Brandon, Man. have arrested five people after guns and drugs were found during a traffic stop and the search of a home.

Police in Brandon, Man. have arrested five people after guns and drugs were found at a traffic stop and during a subsequent search of a home.

Officers seized a loaded, sawed-off semi-automatic shotgun, an ammo belt with 14 12-gauge shells, a .22 calibre hand gun with a banana style clip with two rounds, two cans of bear spray, 16 .32 calibre rifle cartridges and 80 grams of marijuana after a home on Rosser Ave. East, near Russell St., was raided and a vehicle stopped on Tuesday.

Police laid 20 charges in connection with the investigation.  

A 27-year-old Brandon man, a 24-year-old Winnipeg man and a 19-year-old Brandon woman all face a number of weapons-related charges. A 16-year-old Brandon girl was also charged with weapons-related offences, as well as with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and assault with a weapon. 

A 26-year-old man from Griswold, Man., was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant. 

All five people have future court dates scheduled.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
