Bike auction gears up in Winnipeg
More than 700 bikes to choose from as city teams up with the WRENCH to host auction
The City of Winnipeg's annual unclaimed bike auction is taking place at Century Arena, and by bidding on more than 250 ready-to-ride bikes, Winnipeggers are supporting community bicycling programs across the city.
Besides bikes that can roll out on the pavement for a spring ride right away, there are 450 others to choose from.
Each one can be registered for $6.30, ensuring that the owner will get it back with no additional charges should the city recover it if it goes missing.
According to the city, there is no warranty on any of the bikes.
Once again, the city has paired up with the WRENCH, a charity dedicated to making bicycles and cycling available to the public, to put on the auction.
While bidding is underway already on Saturday, on Sunday it begins again at noon.
