George Steciuk, 78, completed the half-marathon on Sunday. He got bib number 3737.

"It's the 37th running of the Manitoba Marathon, and I was born in '37. That makes me 78, so I thought, 'Well, I gotta run!' That's why I put those two numbers on there," said Steciuk, who has previously run in five and 10-kilometre races.

"This may be the last one; I'll see. I told my wife maybe when I'm 80, I'll try the full. But after, I'm not sure."

Patricia Smith of Thompson, Man., participated in the 2.6-mile Super Run. Her daughter, Deborah, and granddaughter Amalie ran in the 10-kilometre race, while another granddaughter, Sarah, ran in the half-marathon.

"They really encouraged me, and next year I want to go in the 10," Patricia said.

"We're three generations now. I just love running … a lot of motivation here."

When asked how her run went, she said, "It went very  well. I ran most of the way; about halfway. And I enjoyed being down here in Winnipeg and watching, you know, the scenery as you run."

Also running on Sunday were the members of the CBC Manitoba Storm Chasers: John Sauder, Jill Coubrough, Leif Larsen, Janice Moeller and Day Scarlett.

The CBC squad ranked 352nd out of 491 relay teams with an official time of 4:38:20.7.
