Firefighters had to cut a person out of a vehicle that ended up on its side on a sidewalk outside of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary School on Oxford and McNay streets just after 7 a.m. Monday.

The crash involved two vehicles, said Platoon Chief Colin Shewell.

"Crews arrived on scene to find one vehicle on its side and were able to extricate one individual in about 20 minutes," he said. The person who was trapped was conscious and was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Oxford Street are shut down this morning as police investigate the crash and clear debris, Shewell added.
