3 songs from London Morning to boost your playlist
London Morning's Ryan Soulliere has 3 hot music picks from this week's shows
London Morning's associate producer Ryan Soulliere listens to a lot of music for his role picking tunes for the show. In any given week, that's about 25 songs. Here are his top three local and Canadian picks from last week.
Fraser Teeple - Went Off
London's Fraser Teeple works double duty as an arborist and songwriter. Teeple has a folk-roots sound and excels with sparse arrangements of just voice and guitar. In 2017 he released a 6-song EP and now he's ready to release his first full-length album, We Built a Fire. The song Went Off, from the new album, is a slow, steady jam with depth and feeling. Went Off stirs up the vibes of Hozier and Aysanabee in a beautiful way. Enjoy this track with your morning coffee or when it's time to unwind.
John Muirhead - Same Old Ways
Once based in London, John Muirhead continues to make strides in his music career, which has been marked by a Canadian Folk Music Award and an Ontario Folk Music Award. Now working out of Toronto, Muirhhead has a slew of great new singles that are delightfully easy on the ears. One of those new singles, Same Old Ways, is a foot-stompin' roots/rock track with warm vocals and a catchy chorus. Same Old Ways is excellent for a party mix or when you want a boost of energy.
NYSSA - Breakup Party
Toronto's NYSSA is a skilled and experienced singer, songwriter and producer. Her 2024 album Shake Me Where I'm Foolish has some great rock anthems, some softer tunes, and some techno elements, and all have one thing in common - NYSSA's powerful vocals. You'll find Breakup Party on the latest album, and it's a great track for parties. The first Monday in January has anecdotally become known as 'divorce day,' so if you happen to be in the process of dissolving a relationship, Breakup Party is an ideal anthem for you. If that's not the case, you just found a brand new song for your next party mix.
