The Chinese cemetary in Kamloops is a beautiful spot.

It's next to a creek in the upper West End surrounded by rolling hills and the sound of birds.

Work is about to get underway - replacing the old grave markers and the hope is to have the site receive official heritage status.

Elsie Cheung is the president of the Kamloops Chinese Freemason Association.

She met with Daybreak's Jennifer Chrumka at the cemetery.
