Hamilton is digging itself out of a huge dump of snow that fell overnight Saturday.

Environment Canada reported over eight centimetres of snow fell Saturday, with more into Sunday morning.

It is the largest snowfall this winter, according to data from the federal agency.

The City of Hamilton said its snowplows were busy overnight clearing and salting roads. Residents can track plows here.

Roads in Hamilton Saturday night were slushy and slippery, following the snowfall warning.

Snowy conditions were impacting air travel, with dozens of flights delayed at Toronto's Pearson airport Sunday morning. GO transit reported an adjustment to its 47 bus route to Hamilton due to the weather, starting the route at the Square One Bus Terminal.

Environment Canada said a fast moving low pressure system brought the snow, which moved into southern Ontario on Saturday. Up to 20 centimetres were expected to fall in parts of the Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area over the weekend.

No weather advisories were in effect Sunday for the region, although snow also fell overnight in Brantford, Burlington, St. Catharines and Niagara Falls, according to Environment Canada.

The City of Niagara Falls says it has "initiated a full plow response."

Residents can help by not parking on the streets, the city said in a statement. They're also advised to drive with caution.

The region could see more snow Sunday, with a 60 per cent chance of flurries.

More snow is expected throughout the week.
