$500,000 grow op found in Hamilton's east end
Hamilton Police found 507 marijuana plans growing inside a home on Montmorency Drive near Cherryhill Avenue on Thursday
Over $500,000 of pot was seized from a home in the city's east end on Thursday, police say.
Around 2:30 p.m., the vice and drug unit executed a search warrant at a home on Montmorency Drive near Cherryhill Avenue.
Investigators discovered what police call a "sophisticated marijuana grow op" that used most of the home, including multiple lights and "an extensive wiring and water filtration system."
A total of 507 plants were seized alongside a quantity of processed marijuana, police say. Horizon Utilities and the city were contacted to shut off hydro and water to the home.
A 52-year-old Hamilton man was arrested at the scene and charged with production of marijuana, production of cannabis resin, production of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana.
He was held for a bail hearing.
