Norfolk County police are investigating after someone working on a ginseng farm was killed by a piece of equipment Thursday.
Officers from Norfolk's Ontario Provincial Police detachment, along with fire and paramedics, were called to a Concession 13 farm in Townsend around 2:33 p.m., police say.
When they got there, police say, they learned someone working in a ginseng field was hit by a piece of equipment from a trailer. That person was pronounced dead on scene.
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development confirms that it's investigating.
The incident was reported after "a piece of equipment fell on a worker," the ministry said in an email. "Two ministry inspectors have been assigned and our investigation is ongoing."
