Is Hamilton city hall transparent? The mayor's task force wants to know

The city said in a news release on Thursday that the Mayor’s Task Force on Transparency, Access and Accountability — which is in charge of reviewing community concerns about openness at the city — is looking for your feedback.

Those looking to provide feedback can do so via an online survey, an email, mail, or in person

The mayor's office is looking for your opinions on transparency and accountability.

The city said in a news release on Thursday that the Mayor's Task Force on Transparency, Access and Accountability — which is in charge of reviewing community concerns about openness at the city — is looking for the public's feedback on four specific areas:

  • Better ways for Hamilton residents to share ideas.
  • Transparency on the city's activities and decisions.
  • Accountability to the community.
  • Ways to "enhance trust" between the city and its residents.

Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath said in the release that while the city is "committed to access, openness and transparency in its decision-making and service delivery, there is always room for improvement — which is what I heard during the last election."

She said she's encouraging people to submit feedback.

Feedback will be collected by the task force and presented in a report that will be presented to council in early 2025, according to the release.

Those wishing to offer feedback can do so online by completing a survey or by email to [email protected]. You can also mail a response to 71 Main Street West, 1st Floor, Hamilton, Ontario, L8P 4Y5, or drop by in person during public delegations on Nov. 13 and 19.
